History of Alderbrook

Alderbrook Resort and Spa has been a staple in Union dating back to 1913. When Alderbrook first opened there were no roads to access the Resort, instead guests arrived by a steamer and were launched the remainder of the way. Mr. Strumer was the first person to operate Alderbrook Resort which at the time was named Alderbrook Inn. Mr. Strumer owned the hotel for 12 years before selling it off.

How to be a Better Bride

Good Morning All,

Here at Alderbrook we hold many weddings each year and are always looking for ways to help out brides so that their day is perfect. Recently we received some information about a great class conducted by one of our wedding planner friends Jennifer Taylor of Taylor'd Events by Jennifer.

Jennifer teaches a class called "Be a Better Bride." This class gives brides, grooms, parents, and anyone who is involved with the wedding detailed information about what it takes to plan a wedding. This class will provide you with learning how to create a budget, planning a timeline, working with vendors, and other "insider information" that will make your day a success.

Classes are being offered at Lake Washington Technical College for $100 per couple. Dates available are July 25th, August 8th, August 15th, August 22nd, October 3rd, October 17th, and November 14th from 9:30am-5:30pm. More information is available on Jennifer's website at taylordeventsbyjen.com

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Springtime at Alderbrook

Wow! I did not realize it had been so long since I had written. The weather has just been way to nice at Alderbrook to sit inside all day.

These past two weekends we have been very busy especially out on our dock. There were people kayaking and boats coming in that had been out shrimping (those are my favorite kinds of boats).

Well I am going to go catch a few more rays of sunshine before it becomes cloudy and rainy tomorrow.

Enjoy the day,

Best of the Northwest

Alderbrook Resort and Spa has just won King 5's Best of the Northwest Contest as the Best Resort! Everyone here is so excited and thankful for all of the support from our guests. Also, our Spa at Alderbrook came in third for the Best Spa Retreat, maybe next year they will win as well.

Thank you again for all of your support!

Rainy Day Activities

Well it looks like today is going to be another rainy day in Washington. The past few days have been great, just a little cold, but enough sunshine to warm me up. Luckily, there is a great fireplace in the lobby to snuggle up next to. Maybe if I get lucky, I will be able to play a game of chess with one of the guests or perhaps a board game.

Have a good day all,

Spring has Come

It has been so beautiful for the past few days, I have had a hard time staying inside and let me tell you it is hard to drag a computer out to the waterfront lawn to write. This week has been really good so far, there have been a few groups in house as well as a lot of people stopping by to see me...well come to think of it they might just be stopping by to see how amazing the resort looks when the sun is shining.
It sounds like rain is on the horizon though, but at least there have been a couple days where the sun came out to play.
We had two weddings this past Saturday and both of the brides looked magnificent. The weather was perfect for the ceremonies and both couples seemed to really enjoy their special day.
Well I think I am going to go work on my tan.
Have a great day,

The Middle of the Week

Good Morning it's Wednesday!!

The best part about Wednesday's is that you are half way to the weekend and it sounds like this weekend is going to be beautiful! We had a touch of snow here on Monday which I was not too found of, it is way too cold on my paws. The mornings have still been really chilly, but yesterday the sun was shining and I was loving every minute of being outside.

Our Front Desk girls seemed like they needed some assistance with the gift shop, so I helped keep the gift bags warm for them.

Well I am off to see if there are any fish swimming in the pond...after all it is close to lunch time.

Have a great Wednesday.

Case of the Mondays

Good Morning

It's Monday and what a busy weekend we had. There was a wedding and a family reunion and guests celebrating Easter. I think I might have over done it on the peeps, so for today I will relax and enjoy the quiet of the Resort and vow never to eat another peep again....or at least until next Easter.
Have a Great Monday,

YAY It's Friday

It's Friday!

The Resort is all a buzz with the weekend ahead. We have a wedding tomorrow (one of my favorite events here to watch). If I am lucky, when the Banquet staff is not looking I can sneak some delicious Salmon off the Banquet. I hope the day is sunny and bright, just like our bride will be. For now I will sit here patiently, waiting for the sun to come out.

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!

Rain Still?

Good Afternoon All,
Well the day started out with rain, something not unusual here in Washington, however it really puts a damper on playing outside. Luckily it looks like the clouds are lifting so I can finally go run around on the property. Although...it looks cold outside....maybe I'll just curl up next to the fire and take a nap.
Have a good day all,
-Brook
